I am delighted to announce that I am using FoundationIP, a leading IP case management system. The beauty of the system is that it is web-based. So I have no expensive servers to maintain and can access my data from anywhere in the world. Best of all, upgrades to software and workflows are carried out in the background as part of the service.
Security
The security at FoundationIP is impressive. Details are available here. That's to be expected though, since they count among their corporate clients the likes of ebay®, Yahoo®, Pixar®, Wells Fargo® and SanDisk®. Some of their legal clients include Kilpatrick Stockton, Ropes & Gray, Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Schwegman Lundberg Woessner.
Effective case management is no longer the domain of the larger firm
Case Management
Effective and professional case management is the keystone of a successful practice. Web-based applications such as FoundationIP have made it possible for smaller firms, such as mine, to manage cases just as effectively as larger firms with expensive in house servers. For clients, this is good news. No longer is it necessary for them to cover the overheads associated with such systems. The accessibility of FoundationIP makes it possible for practitioners to offer competitive rates while still maintaining an effective file management system.
Client Accessibility
A useful feature of FoundationIP is that it allows clients access to their own records without having to wait for notifications from their attorneys. Clients are therefore able to respond rapidly to deal offers, something that can mean the difference between commercialisation success or failure. This a feature that I will be developing in the near future.
